Position Overview
Based at our InfraBuild Recycling Hexham site, the Material Handler/Excavator operator will perform a range of duties within the metal recycling yard. This is a permanent day shift role with hours from 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. There will be on‑job training provided and excellent opportunities for career progression/multi‑skilling.
Pay rate for this role is 33.81 per hour plus super.
What you will be doing:
- Operating a Material Handler/Excavator
- Loading and unloading trucks and shipping containers
- Loading scrap metal onto conveyor for processing through the shredder
- Maintaining cleanliness in the yard and operational areas
- Conducting daily checks on mobile plant
- Adhering to safety procedures at all times
You will be rewarded with:

What you will bring:
- Experience operating a Material Handler/Excavator
- Forklift ticket, desirable
- Experience in scrap recycling, construction or manufacturing is highly advantageous
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced yard environment
- Reliable and punctual with a safety focused and team oriented mindset
