We are recruiting a Roamer/Tramper HGV Driver to work from our Operations Centre in Gloucester, GL2 2SF. Your home location will be Gloucester, but you will be required to travel to other operation centres to assist with holiday cover and increased workload. You will complete 3 to 4 overnights per week and receive an additional overnight allowance payment.
Role Overview
You will collect and deliver predominantly accident damaged vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and conditions on our salvage transporters. The role can be physically demanding and requires compliance with legal and company requirements for a professional driver, safe operation of the vehicle and loading equipment, and adherence to all H&S policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Drive and operate HGV/LGV vehicles in rural and urban environments.
- Collect and deliver accident damaged vehicles to designated locations.
- Conduct internal and external truck and equipment checks.
- Photograph and document vehicle damage and conduct inspections of all collected and delivered vehicles.
- Operate a tachograph and maintain accurate records of Driving Hours and Working Time regulations.
- Use handheld devices and basic IT applications effectively.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners.
- Maintain high levels of safety, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
Qualifications
- HGV/LGV Licence, Class 1.
- Current CPC A licence.
- Good understanding of EC Driver Hours and Working Time regulations.
- Experience as a professional driver.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Confidence in the use of handheld devices and basic IT applications.
- Ability to adapt and organise workdays efficiently.
- Car transportation or recovery experience is an advantage but not essential.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Average salary based on 7 vehicle collections per day: approximately £52,516 pa.
- Roamer allowance of £3,000 per year.
- Overnight allowance of £45 per night (£30 tax free).
