Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking Senior Mechanical Engineer, looking to step up into a Lead role within high-performing engineering team within a cutting-edge high tech company. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on mechanical design, and project ownership across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate department goals and objectives into team-level goals, KPIs, and initiatives
• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, including working practices, processes, and project delivery
• Identify and address capability gaps within the team
• Take ownership of project work packages and improvement initiatives, coordinating internal engineers and external partners
• Act as both a subject matter expert and individual contributor, collaborating with other disciplines
• Manage human resource priorities, advise on policies, and report on HR initiatives
• Guide management on organisational expectations and ensure team compliance with policies and standards

Skills & Knowledge

• Proven ability to lead product development in mechanical engineering
• Experience mechanical design of high-tech equipment across the full product lifecycle
• Experience with optical systems
• Expert knowledge of mechanical design and drawing standards for precision machined and sheet metal parts
• Proficient in SolidWorks; FEA or flow simulation skills are advantageous
• Strong practical, hands-on skills with knowledge of modern manufacturing methods
• Strong organisational skills for managing multiple concurrent activities
