Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting
About the role
You will be responsible for ensuring clients’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner while identifying opportunities for added value.
- Assisting in the preparation of complex statutory accounts and reviewing disclosures under accounting frameworks including FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Assisting with the preparation, review, and submission of VAT and employer taxes such as P11D and PSA.
- Assisting in the preparation or review of monthly/quarterly management reports for a range of clients.
- Preparing integrated cash flow forecasts.
- Reviewing bookkeeping duties using accounting software such as Xero and Sage.
- Preparing or reviewing corporation tax returns and providing ad‑hoc advice in support of the tax team.
- Building client relationships and assisting management with the maintenance of client portfolios.
- Understanding client internal controls, identifying weaknesses, and suggesting improvements.
- Performing on‑site assignments or secondments at client premises.
- Ensuring completion of assigned areas of work within the time budget and deadlines, meeting the standard set with minimal supervision.
- Continuously improving systems and procedures.
- Providing assistance, coaching, and mentoring to junior staff as required.
- Prioritising your own workload and deadlines.
- Keeping up to date with technical knowledge and changes in the accountancy profession, driving best practice within the team, and supporting continuous development.
- Monitoring and adhering to deadlines to ensure client work meets expectations.
- Liaising with other departments in the firm and promoting awareness of offered services.
About you
- ACCA or ACA qualified.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an accountancy practice firm.
- Basic knowledge of accounting packages and statutory accounts preparation software, ideally Xero and Caseware.
- Fundamental knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
- Strong time‑management and delegative skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
