About the role

We are looking to recruit a lawyer at 2+ PQE into our Insurance & Reinsurance Group in London or Bristol for a role focused on cyber, combining breach response and coverage work.

The work puts you close to the action. You could be advising on a live cyber incident one week and analysing a complex coverage case the next. The matters are high profile and often fast moving – incident response, cyber and financial lines coverage, follow-on claims and disputes. You will work directly with leading insurers and major corporates on issues where the legal analysis matters, but so does judgement, commerciality and the ability to move quickly.

The team is also at the forefront of using AI and technology to deliver services to clients, from AI-assisted data review in breach response matters to developing new technology-enabled service models. You will be encouraged to engage with that side of the practice and think creatively about how technology can improve what we do and how we do it.

What makes this role stand out is the combination of the work and the team. The matters are sophisticated and commercially significant, but the culture is friendly, straightforward and collaborative. Associates get early responsibility, close access to partners and meaningful client contact. There is clear scope to develop a genuine specialism in cyber, build client relationships and raise your profile in the market, with the full support and breadth of a leading insurance team and international firm behind you. People who join this team tend to stay.

About you

You are likely to be at a City, specialist insurance, major regional or leading international firm. You may already have cyber experience, or you may have built strong foundations in coverage, financial lines, professional indemnity, technology or data disputes, or another relevant line – what matters is that you are interested in cyber.

You’ll be technically strong with good drafting skills, but equally comfortable picking up the phone and giving a client a straight answer. You take ownership of your work, manage competing demands well and are the kind of lawyer colleagues enjoy working with. An interest in AI and how technology is changing the delivery of legal services would be an advantage, not because we expect you to be a technologist, but because the team is actively investing in this space and we want people who find that exciting rather than daunting.

This is a team with real momentum and we are looking for lawyers who want to grow with it.
