Health & Safety Advisor – Civil Engineering

Location: Wembley, London HA9

Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview

Our client is a growing civil engineering contractor operating across London and the surrounding areas. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to recruit an intermediate-level Health & Safety Advisor to support site teams and help maintain high safety standards across a range of civil engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who has gained some industry experience and is looking to take the next step within a busy, hands‑on civil engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits
  • Identify hazards and potential risks
  • Prepare reports and support corrective actions
  • Assist with the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, permits and site safety documentation
  • Support toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings
  • Investigate near misses and incidents where required
  • Monitor compliance with company procedures
  • Help ensure all projects meet current health and safety legislation
  • Visit sites across London and engage with site-based teams

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a Health & Safety role in construction, civil engineering, utilities, groundworks, highways or a related sector.

You should have a good understanding of construction health and safety legislation, risk assessments, method statements and site compliance requirements.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • IOSH qualification
  • Similar qualification

You will need to be organised, confident, approachable and able to build positive working relationships with people at all levels.

A full UK driving licence would be beneficial due to travel between project sites.
