Senior Design Engineer

About The Role

Senior Design Engineer based in Raynesway (Derby) and Finham (Coventry). You will design technical solutions for waste network facilities, from optioneering and outline design through to detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. You will also mentor peers and work closely with Project Managers to define contractual outputs for successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• High level appraisal and optioneering of conceptual designs to create innovative and efficient TOTEX solutions for wastewater infrastructure assets, liaising with appropriate internal and external experts, ensuring design standards and assurance processes are followed.
• Undertake early pro‑active risk management and ensure risk registers are owned and maintained throughout the optioneering and design process.
• Undertake the role of Principal Designer and discharge duties in accordance with CDM regulations.
• Ensure Health and Safety are built into the lifecycle of the design.
• Understand and review potential delivery and operational risks, e.g. H&S, environmental, commissioning through the design process.
• Approve designs from internal or external designers.

What You’ll Bring

• Degree‑qualified (desirable) and demonstrating professional commitment as a member of an engineering Institution or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status.
• Water industry background is a plus but not essential; a civil engineering discipline is required.
• Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills.
• Forward‑thinking, capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment.
• A full UK driving licence.
