Job Title: Noise & Vibration Engineer
Location: Derby (UK Wide)
About the Role
We are looking for a talented Noise & Vibration Engineer to join our Balvac Testing & Analysis team, supporting major construction projects across the UK. In this role, you will deliver high‑quality monitoring, analysis and reporting of noise, vibration and air quality data. You’ll play a key part in ensuring projects meet environmental and regulatory requirements while providing innovative and practical solutions to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain monitoring systems for noise, vibration, air quality and structural health.
- Carry out data analysis, including statistical interpretation of environmental monitoring data.
- Prepare detailed technical and factual reports.
- Diagnose and resolve on‑site monitoring and equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate and robust documentation of all technical information.
- Support the development of monitoring solutions in line with relevant standards.
- Contribute to planning and managing cost and time estimates for project activities.
- Translate client needs into practical, effective solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support other departments and collaborate across teams when required.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Essential:
- Qualification in acoustics or a related subject.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of noise, vibration and environmental monitoring.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Practical problem‑solving skills and ability to maintain technical equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Desirable:
- IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.
- Membership of the Institute of Acoustics.
- Experience in construction or environmental monitoring.
- Competency in noise modelling software (e.g., CadnaA).
- Understanding of air quality monitoring.
- Knowledge of relevant standards such as BS 5228.
- CSCS card.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
