The role

As a Driver and Ground Handler you will work with a small, friendly Transport Services team to move RAF personnel, vehicles and equipment safely and on time. You will operate a mix of vehicles, from cars and minibuses to rigid and articulated LGVs, depending on the task, and you will help keep the team running smoothly on the unique RAF Benson site.

Responsibilities

  • Transport recruits and station personnel between units and the local area using a range of vehicles.
  • Carry out detailed monthly checks of the vehicle fleet and report any defects to the Transport Control Office.
  • Prepare vehicles for events such as graduation days.
  • Wear the provided uniform as required by company policy.

Essential experience

  • Experience of driving a range of vehicles.
  • Good working knowledge of Driver’s Hours Regulations in line with EU Directive 561/2006.
  • CAT B licence.
  • Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA licence Category C.
  • Digital Tachograph Card.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance, EDBS, for this role.
