Eligibility
This vacancy is open exclusively to graduates of Birmingham City University from the 2024/25 and 2025/26 academic years. Eligible candidates must have completed their course (or be due to complete) between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2026, and must no longer be studying.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Grow Your Own Project Officer to join our Careers Team linked to the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Computing and Engineering (ABCE), supporting the delivery of high-quality services across the University. This role involves managing enquiries, data collection, first-line employability information, event support, and creating promotional content.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for the School of ABCE Careers Team and manage enquiries from students, staff, and visitors.
- Collect and collate accurate data to provide insights into service engagement.
- Provide first-line employability information and signposting, including arranging appointments with Employability Advisors and Careers Consultants.
- Support the organisation of the Minivation and Innovation Fest.
- Create engaging promotional materials such as social media posts, posters, and newsletters.
- Take part in activities designed to boost student engagement with employability opportunities.
- Provide general administrative support to the team and spend time each week in the careers and student opportunities office providing first line information and advice.
Essential Requirements
- Recently completed a degree at BCU.
- Genuine interest in helping students progress their career plans and an understanding of the challenges facing recent graduates.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Flexible approach and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good general IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Canva, Sway) and working understanding of social media platforms (LinkedIn and Instagram).
