About the post
Due to maternity leave for around 12 months, we are recruiting someone with a keen knowledge and interest in democratic processes, who can provide leadership in maintaining and improving the Council’s decision‑making processes.
Responsibilities
- Support formal processes for making decisions within the Council, including by Cabinet.
- Manage a team of Democratic Services Officers who provide effective advice and support to meetings of the Council such as the Planning Regulatory Board, Licensing Regulatory Board and the six Area Councils.
- Provide leadership to ensure appropriate organisation of and decision‑making in hearings such as School Admission Appeals, Independent Review Panels for School Exclusions and a number of Charity Boards.
- Work with officers from across the Council to ensure good governance.
Qualifications
- Experience in democratic processes.
- Exceptional leadership skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Ability to form relationships with a wide range of people.
- A drive to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective democratic processes within the Council.
