Relief Mobile Officer / Security Officer
Vigilant Security is offering an opportunity for a security professional to join our team in Edinburgh. The officer will service many sites across the city, providing relief for static guarding at 22 locations, and will support our mobile response and patrol staff (nights or weekends only). Future opportunities for supervisor posts are available.
Required licences: SIA licence and full clean driving licence held for a minimum of five years. The role requires maintaining day‑to‑day security standards, representing the company professionally, and adhering to all health and safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Mobile patrols, lock ups and unlocks.
- Respond to alarm activations on request from the communications centre.
- Undertake site visit inspections according to management instructions.
- Use relevant communications equipment proficiently.
- Ensure all H&S policies are adhered to.
- Assist staff and visitors at sites.
- Prevent unauthorised persons from entering prohibited areas.
- Maintain accurate incident records.
- Perform any additional duties reasonably required by management.
- Maintain a high level of security awareness.
Key Accountabilities – Mobile Team / Keyholding
- Ensure the company vehicle is always road‑worthy (daily vehicle checks).
- Respond to all alarm activations promptly.
- Accurately report all findings from alarm activations.
- Maintain accurate incident records using the appropriate reporting procedure.
- Unlock and lock up the client’s premises in line with assignment instructions and client procedures.
- Pass relevant information to the next shift on handover.
- Complete schedules to record site visits.
- Complete all required key registers and seal logs.
- Inform line managers of any changes to details, job specifics or issues at the site.
Personal Specification
- Current SIA licence.
- Full clean driving licence (minimum five years).
- Experience with mobile patrols and key holding preferred.
- Smart, confident, reliable and self‑motivated.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- IT skills, including use of a Samsung tablet.
- Customer/client awareness.
