About the role
Turn Furlong (Kingsthorpe, Northampton) provides an integrated health and social care service for individuals requiring short‑term support following discharge from hospital. The Recovering Independence Bed unit is delivered by a multidisciplinary team from both health and social care, working together to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care. The team supports individuals through clinical care, rehabilitation, and reablement, helping them regain independence in a safe and supportive environment.
What will you be doing?
- Support with personal care, including assisting with mobility, hygiene and overall wellbeing, while maintaining dignity and promoting independence.
- Monitor individuals during the night, respond to their needs and escalated concerns to the senior team.
- Follow care plans to deliver personalised support while maintaining clear and accurate records.
- Work as part of a team to create a calm, safe and supportive environment, demonstrating kindness, compassion and professionalism at all times.
Working pattern
- 7:30 pm – 8 am
- Nights – average 96 hours per month
- Week 1: Tuesday & Friday
- Week 2: Wednesday
- Week 3: Monday, Wednesday & Sunday
- Week 4: Tuesday & Sunday
About you
- Compassionate, reliable and committed to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care.
- Sound understanding of good care principles, strong focus on customer service and ability to build positive relationships with people you support and their families.
- Confident in maintaining clear and accurate records, with a good level of IT literacy, and awareness of data protection, confidentiality, and health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Comfortable supporting individuals with mobility, including assisting with moving and handling where required.
- Respectful and valuing diversity, able to cope under pressure, organised and willing to undertake all training relevant to the role.
- Previous experience in an adult health or social care setting is desirable. You must be willing and able to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Care within two years; a Level 2 NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent is an advantage.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
