Clinical administration is a key function in the management and day‑to‑day functionality of the countywide adult bladder and bowel team and the patients they care for. The purpose of this role is to work with and support the adult bladder and bowel team with their clinical administration functions associated with the management of patients; accepting incoming tasks / emails and referrals to the team, setting up clinic ledgers and making amendments as needed.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for accepting and completing electronic tasks with the help of the nursing staff as required.
Work with both SystmOne and an online ordering system to contribute to patient care.
Carry out administrative and housekeeping tasks to support the service and patient care.
Support Lead nurses with Home Delivery Service receipting and monitoring of invoices / budget.
Complete Cardea ordering and monitor budget accordingly.
Participate and provide training around the electronic patient management system and functioning of the team in their area.
Provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills.
Provide and receive complex or sensitive information, dealing with and understanding behaviours.
Provide advice, instruction or training to the team.
About us
We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and the University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients’ homes.

Job responsibilities
Supporting the adult bladder and bowel team in accepting electronic referrals and tasks, action appropriately, following SOPs, procedures and treatment plans whilst seeking advice if required.
Manages own workload with an understanding of what needs to be done, when and why to assist the function of the team. Has the ability to flexibly prioritise if required due to an unexpected or urgent need.
Provide staff with advice re administrative procedures and help with access as required. This includes general admin duties and IAA functions.
Communicate with patients, relatives and health care practitioners effectively.
Demonstrating effective time management skills and participating in the monitoring and reviewing of team performance.
Gather key audit data from electronic systems and produce reports to adult bladder and bowel lead nurses as requested and within timescales.
Promote an environment where health promotion and informed patient choice is encouraged and developed to its maximum potential, within the available resources.
To undertake relevant training to enable the provision of a high quality service.
To complete effective record keeping in accordance with Trust policy and legal requirements.
To commit to continuous personal development / lifelong learning by attending mandatory training, relevant training courses, use of eLearning and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
To attend regular admin meetings / 1:1 sessions, to undertake appraisal preparation and contribute to objective setting and personal development planning.
To participate in and contribute to all activities associated with the team’s response to current trends and changes within the NHS.

Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience) Evidence of Team working, Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Special Requirements
- Driving posts must have a valid Full UK driving licence.
