Overview
We’re looking for an Assistant Commercial Manager for a public sector organisation based in Milton Keynes (hybrid) on an initial 3-month contract, paying up to £550 per day (Inside IR35, Umbrella).
This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in the Milton Keynes office, with no fixed days required.
Responsibilities
The successful Assistant Commercial Manager will support a Commercial Manager across pre‑contract activities, including preparing tender documentation, evaluating payments and variations, and managing procurement across a range of contract categories. You’ll assist with the measurement and certification of works in line with contractual obligations, and contribute to commercial reporting on allocated projects throughout the route.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for proven experience in the following:
- Working to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Problem‑solving within a commercial or procurement context
- Basic commercial awareness and understanding of contract value
- Basic negotiation and influencing skills
- Computer literacy, including use of in‑house and external software systems
Experience in the following would be beneficial:
- Communicating effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
- Membership of a relevant professional body (such as CIPS or RICS), or working towards it
- Use of electronic sourcing and/or procurement systems
