Role Overview
We are looking for an Outpatients Clerk/Hospital Receptionist Apprentice to provide a timely, accurate and responsive service to the Medical Records/Outpatients Department and Hospital Reception at Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne.
Responsibilities
- Cover the main reception desk
- Make and change patient appointments
- Attend outcoming clinics
- Maintain office supplies via e‑procurement systems
- Deal with patient enquiries in person and by telephone
- Process clinic change notifications as directed by line manager
- Assist the team by sharing skills and knowledge with colleagues
- Cover service requirements between 08:30 and 17:00 as required
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and IT skills
- Ability to use a variety of patient administration systems
- Previous experience in Medical Records and Outpatient systems (advantageous but not essential)
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs
Requirements
- DBS check required; the Trust will cover the cost and no DBS Update Service will be accepted
- Valid right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available
Apprenticeship & Working Hours
- Full‑time position: 37.5 hours per week over five days, 09:00–17:00, with flexibility to 08:30–17:00 as required
- Study time will be offered to support apprenticeship learning based on service needs and individual circumstances
