The Role: A degree‑qualified Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join a world‑class team and develop advanced professional audio products. As a senior engineer you will demonstrate a high level of competence, own the mechanical design of products and drive development to completion while working within a multi‑disciplinary team.

Duties

  • Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, you will be responsible for the mechanical design of loudspeaker systems, including safety‑critical lifting hardware intended for deployment over an audience area.
  • You will use engineering principles and have experience of structural load analysis, hand calculation and FEA tools to validate and optimise design work.
  • You will understand geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis and apply these methods to ensure products fit together as required, particularly for connection and suspension loudspeaker systems.
  • Design for a range of materials and processes including welded fabrication, woodworking (usually CNC), sheet metal design, extrusions, pressed metal parts, diecast and injection moulding.
  • You may provide mentoring to other team members and assist with drawing checking and validation.
  • You may be required to attend concerts or installations to gain experience of the use cases of our products.
  • Occasionally you will visit suppliers or contract manufacturers.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or associated discipline, with previous mechanical design or product development experience.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and present solutions based on sound engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360 or similar; PTC Creo Parametric is preferred.
  • Capability to produce engineering drawings for parts and assemblies, fully detailed with required inspection dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience using a PLM system for document control and change management.
  • Expertise in geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis to ensure products fit together as required.
  • Skill in hand calculation and FEA tools to analyse structural components and optimise designs.

Working Hours: 8:45–17:30 Monday to Thursday, 8:45–16:00 Friday.
