Position Details

School: Rowley Hall Primary Academy

Location: Windsor Road, Rowley Regis

Grade: D – Points 9–17 (Level 3) | Grade B – Points 3–4 (Level 2)

Pay: FTE £28,155 – £32,046 (Actual Salary £22,053 – £25,209) for Level 3; FTE £25,878–£26,017 (Actual Salary £20,269–£20,378) for Level 2

Special Conditions: Term time only, 39 weeks per year plus 5 training days

Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:30am – 3:30pm)

About the Role

The successful candidate will predominantly support a small number of children with additional needs within the classroom, while also providing wider classroom support where appropriate. Working alongside the class teacher and SENDCo, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Deliver high‑quality interventions and learning support.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and engage successfully in learning.
  • Promote children’s independence, confidence and social development.
  • Support learning across the curriculum, including Phonics, English and Maths.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, parents and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the support they need.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant/Learning Support qualification.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND across the primary age range.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of a range of SEND, including communication, cognition and learning, SEMH and autism (desirable).
  • Experience implementing strategies and interventions to support pupils with additional needs.
  • A nurturing, patient and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • High expectations for every child.
  • A First Aid qualification (or willingness to train).
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and socially.

Professional Requirements

All applicants will be subject to a rigorous, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and references will be verified for authenticity and accuracy. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is eligible for an enhanced DBS check, including a Children’s Barring List Check. If barred from working with children, application will be refused.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016); therefore, the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement.
