Project Engineer Team Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new team leader in the EMC (Electro-magnetic Compatibility) and RE (Radiation Effects) projects team, based in Bristol. The EMC team provides specialist advice, strategy and guidance to complex EMC programmes from concept through design and proving to in-service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the activities of the EMC/RE projects team, across multiple programmes and across three strands: requirements, design and proving.
• Provide specialist EMC guidance and strategy for complex programmes from concept through proving and into service.
• Access and leverage extensive military EMC test capabilities within the EMC department to qualify product developments against electromagnetic environment requirements.
• Investigate and/or deploy novel digital proving techniques and methodologies.
• Collaborate with project teams and manage delivery on time, cost and quality using key project management principles.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a STEM subject with experience in a similar role or looking to take the next step.
• Ability to manage activities on time, on cost and on quality.
• Adaptability and a proactive, collaborative attitude; able to remain calm under changing conditions.
• Experience in people management and development, with a focus on coaching and mentorship.
• High level of emotional intelligence to foster a positive, inclusive and supportive environment.
• Knowledge of electrical, electronic and electromagnetic engineering is highly desirable, but not essential.
• Basic understanding of EMC is required, with on-the-job development available.
• You will need to obtain UK Security Clearance; eligibility requires either full UK citizenship or dual national with British citizenship (some restrictions may apply).
