Job Overview

Cleaning Manager/Supervisor responsible for leading the cleaning team across two buildings, ensuring high cleanliness standards during the Friday–Tuesday shift (6 am – 9 am). The role requires active participation in cleaning tasks, team supervision, and travel between both sites.

Working Pattern

Friday to Tuesday, 6 am – 9 am.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate and support cleaners to maintain high standards of cleanliness across both sites.
  • Hands‑On Support: Actively participate in cleaning duties during busy periods or to cover absences.
  • Training & Development: Provide on‑the‑job training in cleaning techniques, Health & Safety, colour coding and prioritisation.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage rotas, shift patterns and daily task allocation to ensure efficient coverage.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain service standards and address issues promptly.
  • Communication: Serve as main point of contact between cleaners and management, raising and closing help‑desk jobs.
  • Supplies & Equipment: Monitor stock levels, place orders and ensure proper usage of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Site Oversight: Travel between the two buildings to oversee operations, support staff and ensure consistency of service delivery.
  • Event Support: Organise cleaning staff for events, coordinating with catering teams to align cleaning with event schedules and food service requirements.
  • Issue Reporting: Identify and report maintenance or operational issues to the on‑site engineer for timely resolution.

Health and Safety Accountabilities

  • Participate in communication activities with staff on health and safety matters to promote a proactive approach.
  • Ensure the OCS safety image is reflected positively through your actions and those of your colleagues.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and maintain required records for due‑diligence compliance.
  • Ensure teams are properly trained to competently carry out their duties and acknowledge personal responsibility for health and safety.
  • Ensure all work activities are properly managed and supervised.
  • Build and promote an open “just culture” for safety that encourages open reporting.
  • Comply with the company’s Near‑Miss and Accident Reporting procedure.
  • Coordinate and implement health and safety matters, including regular meetings with OCS and C&W Facilities.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience in cleaning and team supervision.
  • Willingness to perform cleaning duties alongside the team.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and colour coding systems.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, flexible and approachable.
  • Ability to travel between sites as required.

Desirable

  • Experience in training staff.
  • Basic IT skills for scheduling and reporting.
  • Multilingual abilities.
