Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team in developing and delivering person-centered service.
  • Manage resources to successfully deliver service-user and contract outcomes.
  • Develop staff skills and knowledge in delivering high-quality services designed and delivered to meet the needs of individuals.
  • Apply the tools of person-centered planning, review, and team development.
  • Embed a quality assurance framework at a service level.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Follow the principles of person-centered approaches in all areas of operation.
  • Take responsibility for assessment, planning, monitoring and reviewing of individual support.
  • Ensure appropriate information is captured, reported and analysed.
  • Lead and manage staff to ensure the highest levels of performance and standards are achieved and maintained at all times.
  • Utilise staff skills, gifts, qualities and strengths for best outcomes.
  • Manage the recruitment of staff.
  • Coordinate and deploy staff resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a customer-focussed ethos and ensure excellent working relationships with other professionals.
  • Provide staff with appropriate support through on-the-job coaching, regular supervision and appraisal.
  • Identify and meet staff training and development needs.
  • Organise and facilitate positive and productive team meetings.
  • Promote and nurture good practice.
  • Ensure practice is in line with company policy, procedure and legislation.
  • Ensure the service delivery meets the required quality standards.
  • Promote community connections.
  • Manage internal and external reportable events appropriately and resolve them.
  • Evidently demonstrate quality service delivery.
  • Assist the Area Manager with effective resource management.

Essential Criteria

Experience

  • Significant experience of person-centered planning and review.
  • Significant experience supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Significant experience of people management.
  • Experience of leading and managing a staff team.
  • Experience of undertaking staff supervision and appraisal.
  • Experience of partnership working.
  • Experience of managing resources within an agreed budget.
  • Experience using IT systems in the management of service and people.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of equality and anti-discriminatory practices.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to plan and prioritise a complex workload.
  • Ability to inspire and drive person-centered principles and practices.
  • Ability to assess, plan and monitor care and support to achieve individual outcomes.
  • Ability to engage with service users, families and carers to develop positive and trusting relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental health or learning disabilities and familiarity with current views and best practice.
  • Leadership and team management capability.
  • Ability to use person-centered tools to develop individuals and teams.
  • Apply policy and procedure to achieve quality outcomes for people.
  • Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and resourcefulness.
  • Effective resource management.
  • Use of ICT for information, performance reporting and communication.

Qualifications & Training

  • NVQ3 qualification in management or care (or equivalent) or willingness and ability to complete such a qualification within a set time period.
  • Training in person-centered practices (planning, review, team development).

Other

  • Willingness to work flexible hours according to the needs of the business and ability to work on call.
  • Willingness to work 7 days a week, including unsocial hours and weekends.
