A Civic Enforcement Officer works with the Community Safety Team to keep communities safe and welcoming. Responsibilities include responding to reports of anti‑social behaviour, environmental offences and wider community safety concerns, investigating incidents, providing support to affected parties and de‑escalating potentially volatile situations. The role also involves patrolling parking areas across Darlington to address nuisance parking, ensuring compliance with regulations and issuing notices for contraventions in line with enforcement procedures.
All duties require a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and investigate incidents of anti‑social behaviour, environmental offences, and other community safety concerns.
- Provide support to affected individuals and de‑escalate potentially volatile situations via effective communication skills.
- Patrol parking areas across Darlington, addressing nuisance parking and enforcing compliance with regulations.
- Issue notices for parking contraventions in accordance with council enforcement procedures.
Qualifications
- City and Guilds 1889/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Car Parking Enforcement, or a commitment to obtain the qualification within a reasonable timeframe of commencing employment.
- Full driving licence, required to operate council vehicles.
- Approximately one year of experience dealing with the public.
