Multi Skilled Engineer | Peterborough | £53,000 – £56,500 | Days & Nights

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), breakdown repairs and fault finding on a range of production and packaging machinery.
• Diagnose and fix electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and PLC faults to keep production running and minimise downtime.
• Read and work from electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals to complete repairs and machine modifications.
• Support and guide the engineering team during shift, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve machine reliability, performance and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Complete maintenance records accurately using the site’s maintenance system (CMMS) and follow engineering procedures.
• Work closely with production teams to respond quickly to breakdowns, support changeovers and maximise line availability.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times, ensuring all maintenance work is carried out safely and in line with site standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical engineering, mechanical maintenance, or a related field within an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, and electrical systems.
• Skilled in welding techniques with the ability to fabricate or repair components as needed.
• Demonstrable mechanical knowledge with experience in troubleshooting diverse machinery.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds in engineering disciplines are preferred but not essential if complemented by substantial hands‑on experience.
