Salary: £35,000 – 60,000 per year

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of issue and defect management processes and tools
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques and problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and present metrics, KPIs, and performance dashboards
  • Solid understanding of software integration principles and dependencies
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions on complex or sensitive matters
  • High attention to detail and strong process discipline
  • Ability to identify areas of weakness and where support is needed
  • Experience working within structured project governance frameworks, such as PMO or programme teams
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery models
  • Ability to maintain and update issue registers and tracking systems with accuracy and rigour
  • Ability to facilitate regular issue review meetings, ensuring clear ownership and timely follow-up
  • Degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead the diagnosis of software and systems issues during the development phase of automotive vehicle platforms
  • Work as part of our Central Systems Integration team to coordinate software delivery from multiple ECUs across vehicle systems
  • Focus on issue resolution by understanding root cause and assisting with the resolution of systems and software issues within the vehicle
  • Engage directly with complex issues to support data gathering, problem definition, and analysis
  • Determine the level of urgency required during the early stages of issue investigation
  • Ensure accuracy of captured data and maintain high-quality level 1 triage issue tickets
  • Keep key testing assets up to date and support testing of complex issues and systems
  • Work with other areas of our business to ensure issues are understood and prioritised correctly
  • Maintain issue registers and tracking systems with accuracy and rigour
  • Facilitate regular issue review meetings and ensure clear ownership and timely follow-up
  • Help identify ownership of problems by analysing data and directing issues to the correct team for resolution

We are an OEM client based in Gaydon offering a contract opportunity for a Software and Systems Engineer to join our team inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31st March 2027 and an umbrella pay rate of £33.64 per hour. You will join our Central Systems Integration team, where we plan and coordinate the delivery of software from multiple ECUs to deliver the vehicle features and systems under development. This role is focused on issues resolution, root cause analysis, and supporting the resolution of complex software and systems problems within the vehicle development environment.
