We currently have an exciting opportunity for Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe.
This is a permanent post working 30‑35 hours per week, 8:30‑16:10 or 08:30‑15:10 (40 min break) Monday to Friday, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £18,567‑£21,662 depending on hours; the full‑time equivalent is £25,185, Grade 2.
Teaching Assistant is a rewarding role supporting students in a vibrant and inclusive secondary school environment. You will work under the direction of classroom teachers and headteachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development.
Responsibilities
- Support access to learning for individuals, small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basis.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and provide curricular administrative support.
- Support teachers in managing behaviour in class and around school.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to pupils’ pastoral, social, health and welfare needs, including minor first aid.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

- Work with small groups under teacher supervision, including implementing Individual Learning Plans.
- Promote inclusion and equal access to learning.
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
- Attend to students’ personal and welfare needs.

- Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons.
- Provide clerical and administrative support.
- Assist with behaviour management.
- Undertake pupil record keeping as required.

- Uphold safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and data protection policies.
- Supervise pupils during classroom and outdoor activities.
- Contribute to the wider ethos and aims of the school.
- Participate in training and performance development.
Qualifications
- Has experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
- Has a basic understanding of child development and learning.
- Holds Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent/higher) in English and Maths.
- Demonstrates excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Can build strong, professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Is committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
- Works effectively as part of a team and shows a willingness to learn.
