You will contribute to the development of structural schemes, help prepare calculations and technical information, and support the coordination of design work with architects, contractors and other consultants.

Responsibilities

Working with senior engineers and project teams, your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with the structural design of buildings and associated infrastructure.
  • Preparing engineering calculations for steel, concrete, timber, masonry and other structural materials.

  • Undertaking desk studies, site reviews and structural surveys where required.
  • Reviewing relevant design standards, codes and project guidance.
  • Coordinating design information with architects, MEP consultants and other members of the project team.
  • Responding to technical queries and helping resolve design issues during the project lifecycle.
  • Attending internal design reviews, team meetings and external project meetings as appropriate.
  • Supporting colleagues across the practice with day‑to‑day engineering tasks.
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative and design-focused studio culture.

  • A strong interest in structural engineering and the built environment.
  • An appreciation of architecture and integrated building design.
  • Basic understanding of structural behaviour and common construction materials.
  • Familiarity with British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant engineering guidance.
  • Ability to use, or willingness to learn, structural analysis and design software.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A methodical and organised approach to technical work.
  • Willingness to learn from senior engineers and take feedback constructively.
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

The company will support your development towards professional qualification, including progression towards Chartership with institutions such as the Institution of Structural Engineers or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
