About the role

The role of the Extrusion Operator is to manufacture high quality blown extruded film to the required customer standards, ensuring dedicated machines run with minimal scrap and downtime while maintaining a safe working environment. During the training period (normally 2‑3 weeks) you will work Mon‑Fri 9 am‑5 pm before moving on to shift work and reporting into the Production Manager.

Key responsibilities to include

  • Working safely in accordance with site procedures and safe systems of work
  • Reporting all hazards and acting on them accordingly
  • Housekeeping on all extrusion lines
  • Monitoring product quality and ensuring all quality checks and testing are carried out in line with specifications
  • Monitoring and managing line output rates, utilisation, scrap levels against plan/targets on each line
  • Operating extrusion machinery and monitoring and managing recycling equipment on each unit
  • Ensuring accurate data is recorded and inputted correctly
  • Ensuring a good handover of information to the incoming operator

Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (minimum 2 years) – training will be provided (desirable)
  • Good team‑working and communication skills
  • Positive and pro‑active attitude
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
