About Us

Lewisham Adults with Learning Disability and Autism Service is dedicated to delivering the best support to adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism. We are committed to innovative approaches and continuous improvement, ensuring that our services are at the forefront of best practices.

Role Overview

As a Social Worker you will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality, strengths‑based assessments, interventions and care planning. Your work will directly support individuals with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives within their communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing person‑centred social work support that empowers individuals and promotes independence.
  • Leading on comprehensive assessments, care planning and reviews in line with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.
  • Collaborating closely with individuals, families, carers and multi‑agency professionals to ensure holistic and effective support.
  • Navigating and applying the Continuing Health Care (CHC) framework, safeguarding protocols and Mental Capacity Act processes with confidence and clarity.
  • Staying informed about local services and resources to ensure the best outcomes for those you support.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, must have passed AYSE.
  • Strong working knowledge of the adult social care legal framework, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and a commitment to promoting their rights, choices, and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication, assessment and crisis intervention skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Location

15 minutes south of London Bridge, based in Catford SE6 with two mainline train stations 5–10 minutes’ walk from the office at Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU and numerous bus routes that stop outside the offices. We operate a hybrid working approach as determined by service requirements.

Special Conditions

  • Qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, must have passed AYSE.
  • This job is subject to Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
  • Qualified Social Worker BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent and completion of ASYE programme.
  • Adherence to standards set out in the Job Description/person specification.

Salary

£45 852 – £47 925 per annum (SW / SCP 31‑33). All appointments will be offered at the minimum salary point for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
