Java Full Stack Engineer-Senior Consultant-Digital Excellence

Overview

Our Java Full Stack Engineers sit within Digital Excellence, part of the Business Technology practice in Capgemini Invent. They build cutting‑edge digital solutions for clients, combining business value and a consultative approach.

Responsibilities

• Build microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and front‑end web applications with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML and CSS.
• Use Docker, Docker Compose and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins) to deliver high‑quality code.
• Develop and maintain cloud‑native services on AWS or Azure.
• Design scalable platform architectures, including NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Act as a Senior Consultant: manage team members, engage stakeholders, and assist recruitment efforts.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, RFPs, pitches and client events.
• Participate in internal initiatives such as campaign development, whitepapers, and practice and offering development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building microservices with Java (Spring Boot).
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React front‑end development.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub/GitLab, Docker, and Docker Compose.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
• Agile team experience and strong soft skills (time & risk management, problem solving, leading with empathy).
• Active SC (Security Check) Clearance or eligibility to obtain it.

Desirable

• Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) or SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of web standards, accessibility and best practices.

Bonus

• Experience building microservices in C#.
• Building solutions that integrate with LLMs using tools such as Vercel AI, LangChain.
• Experience with the GOV.UK Design System and Nunjucks.
