Urology Rota Coordinator / Team Leader

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join the Urology Department as our Rota Co‑ordinator/Team Leader. The role involves managing consultants, middle grade and junior doctor rotas and facilitating the creation of the weekly job plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the clinical team, including the Service Manager.
• Supervise and lead the administration team across the LNWUH NHS trust, including recruitment, appraisals and continuous professional development.
• Manage the small admin team and oversee inpatient and outpatient activities.
• Fill all vacant shifts, book locums and reallocate staff to cover shortfalls, ensuring a weekly contingency plan is in place.
• Communicate with external agencies to arrange robust and effective surgical cover.
• Arrange induction programmes with the post‑graduate department and support training and development of medical staff.
• Record and monitor sickness of medical staff, providing reports to relevant managers for action when standards fall below acceptable levels.
• Arrange appropriate cover for all doctors on the rota during periods of leave and sickness.
• Manage payments to all locum doctors via the health roster system.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational management for the administration team, including recruitment and professional development.

Qualifications & Skills

• Excellent communication, teamwork and initiative.
• Strong ability to manage performance targets and lead a team.
• Experience in effectively implementing and maintaining new systems, databases and computer skills.
• Methodical approach to workloads and attention to detail.

Working Pattern

The role requires regular travel between sites. LNWUH is a flexible‑working friendly organisation and we can accommodate flexible patterns such as job sharing, part‑time or other arrangements if suitable for the service.
