Role Overview
We are looking for an exceptional Built Estate Manager to lead the delivery of maintenance, response works, and estate management services across a diverse property portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Ensure statutory compliance, driving operational excellence and leading teams.
- Manage budgets, monitor profit and loss, control costs, and oversee supply chain performance.
- Lead the delivery of all maintenance and response works, ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation, MoD requirements, and health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Oversee operational planning and performance, managing work programmes and resources to meet changing priorities while delivering value for money.
- Provide technical leadership to mitigate compliance risks and chair Site Risk Meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely maintenance documentation within asset systems and update key estate planning documents such as ESTS and FASP.
- Coordinate delivery with Defence Infrastructure Organisation representatives and stakeholders, ensuring works are completed to required standards and timely handover.
- Lead and develop a high-performance team through clear direction, coaching, and effective people management.
- Identify opportunities to improve sustainability and support carbon reduction targets, embedding innovative and efficient solutions across the estate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience in facilities maintenance, property maintenance, estate management, or a related environment.
- Served in an MoD environment is advantageous.
- Proven track record of managing operational delivery, leading teams to achieve KPIs, maintaining strong customer relationships, and planning and controlling a wide range of activities.
- A HND-level qualification in Building/Civil Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable; equivalency through experience is acceptable.
- A management-level qualification in Health & Safety and Environment such as SMSTS is highly valued.
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos legislation, disability access requirements, and energy performance standards.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as the British Institute of Facilities Management or the Institute of Leadership and Management plus NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is beneficial.
