Job Overview

Health Care Support Worker to join Bryn Hesketh Ward, a dementia assessment ward with links to the CMHT. This post is fixed term / secondment until 13.02.2027 due to maternity cover. If you are currently employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and wish to apply for the secondment, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying. Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the nursing team delivering evidence based high quality clinical care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient. The post holder will assist registered nurses/practitioners in the provision of delegated care of patients and will endeavour to provide for the holistic needs of the individual, in conjunction with other disciplines within the health care environment. The post holder will undertake a broad range of duties and will be expected to work independently and as part of the team, supervising patients and assisting them with future care plans.

Person specification

Qualifications And/or Knowledge

  • NVQ Level 3 Or working towards Level 3 to be achieved within 18 months of appointment, with relevant experience in working with people with dementia

Experience

  • Previous experience within the health care sector or specifically in a Mental Health care setting

Aptitude And Abilities

  • Understanding of risk management and health & safety issues
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality

  • Ability to work within a team; demonstrate the ability to care with warmth and understanding
  • Be a team player

Other

  • Fitness and willingness to use de-escalation and, where required, safe handling and breakaway techniques (as appropriate) subject to relevant training according to BCUHB Policy
