Salary: £34,434 – £39,152 pro rata

Job Description

As an Education Support Worker you will support a range of children and young people in their school, college or alternative provision settings. You will work closely with Virtual School Advisers and the Virtual School Head Teacher, as well as schools, social workers, carers and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure each child or young person is provided with an educational placement in a timely manner and monitor the placement via the school, tracking progress, educational targets, attendance and any support requirements.
  • Maintain a caseload of children and young people across different settings and educational phases, prioritising individual needs on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Travel throughout Brighton & Hove to visit educational settings as necessary.
  • Facilitate and support Personal Education Plans (PEPs), held three times each year, coordinating discussions with schools, social workers, carers and educational professionals to set targets and determine how Pupil Premium can be used.
  • Apply effective interventions to support children’s progress, using teacher assessment to set appropriate attainment targets and track outcomes.
  • Lead and promote open discussion, developing shared ownership and commitment to change; resolve conflict sensitively and inspire confidence.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro‑rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term‑time only.
