SEN Teaching Assistant – KS2
Location: DE55, Derbyshire. Full-time, Monday to Friday. Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP). Competitive Daily Rate.
Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child’s education? A welcoming and supportive primary school in DE55 is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide full-time support to a lovely Year 5 pupil. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children thrive both academically and emotionally within a nurturing school environment.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 5 pupil, providing tailored support throughout the school day to help them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential. You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to implement strategies that encourage engagement, independence and positive progress.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated support to a Year 5 pupil throughout the school day.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
- Encourage participation and engagement in lessons.
- Support social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
- Is patient, nurturing and resilient.
- Can build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Has a positive and proactive attitude.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant childcare qualification (desirable).
