Duties as Nursery Assistant:

• Support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that encourages curiosity and independence
• Support planned activities that promote communication, social skills, and early learning
• Work with individual children and small groups to support learning through play
• Assist with observations and contribute to understanding children’s progress
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Support daily routines including play, mealtimes, and transitions
• Follow safeguarding procedures and setting policies at all times
• Work collaboratively with early years practitioners and staff
• Represent Step Teachers professionally while working as a Nursery Assistant

Ideal Nursery Assistant:

• Previous experience working as a Nursery Assistant or in an early years setting
• A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children
• Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Confidence supporting children of different ages and developmental stages
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility and reliability when working on supply
• A proactive and adaptable attitude
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• A genuine passion for early years education
• A positive and professional approach as a Nursery Assistant
