Driver – Passenger Transport

Overview

The Passenger Transport Team is seeking reliable, safety‑conscious Drivers to join our busy and valued service. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in delivering essential transport for children, young people, and vulnerable adults across the borough, helping them access education, care and support safely and comfortably.

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned routes and ensure punctual, safe journeys.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and keep vehicles clean and fully compliant with all relevant regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and follow scheduled timetables.
• Support the smooth operation of the service through close collaboration with operational staff and Passenger Assistants.
• Provide excellent customer care and support passengers, including those requiring additional assistance.

Qualifications

• A full, clean driving licence with D or D1 entitlement.
• Confidence driving larger vehicles.
• Full training will be provided where required, including vehicle‑specific training, safeguarding, disability awareness and Council procedures.
• Responsible, calm under pressure, and committed to delivering excellent customer care.
