Overview
As a Peer Support Worker we are looking for a new colleague with a passion to support individuals with substance use issues. Your role will be to work alongside Turning Point Recovery workers to support service users to access person‑centred support and navigate the opportunities for support available across the treatment and housing system. Turning Point’s Drug & Alcohol Wellbeing Service is expanding and recruiting for this role.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Act as an advocate, mentor and coach to service users, supporting them to succeed in their treatment goals.
- Maintain regular contact with clients, offering advice and information.
- Use your lived experience to provide hope, inspiration and support when helping clients access community resources.
- Communicate effectively with a range of service users and colleagues.
- Manage multiple tasks and adapt to dynamic situations.
- Work on a one‑to‑one and group basis and apply knowledge of relapse and other recovery barriers.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Lived experience around substance and alcohol use, or experience supporting people in health and social care.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to Turning Point values.
- Understanding of substance use challenges and barriers to recovery, including knowledge of mental health, housing and employment issues.
- Flexibility and the ability to work dynamically in varied settings.

- Starting salary £28,405 with annual pay progression up to £32,318 (inclusive ILW £3,633).
