Parent Support Worker

Contract Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week. Contract Duration: Fixed Term Funding – 18 months.

Remuneration: Early Break Salary Points Range 5-9: £28,589.60 – £31,812.56.

Interview Date: Thursday, 30th July 2026.

Key Focus

This is a new project in Early Break. The focus will develop a responsive service based on the needs of parents within an existing young people’s drug and alcohol treatment system.

Responsibilities

• Offer support, guidance and advice to parents and carers regarding children’s substance use and broader risk‑taking issues.
• Manage a caseload of parents/carers of young substance users.
• Deliver training and support for external partners in substance use and related issues, including creation and delivery of trauma‑informed parenting groups.
• Complete holistic assessments and develop care plans.
• Provide advice and guidance to parents/carers and professionals.
• Develop innovations based on Early Break’s Stress Out Brain Model, including co‑production with parents to create interventions and professional training.
• Understand the theoretical model of Early Break and work within a person‑centred ethos.
• Provide interventions with specialist substance workers to support parents/carers of young people using substances.
• Promote and champion best practice in parenting and family work with partner agencies.
• Ensure all necessary administration, recording and reporting is undertaken to specified deadlines, developing reports as required.
• Offer one‑to‑one support and facilitate group work sessions for parents/carers.
• Manage workload effectively across commissioned localities.
• Identify specialist services and signpost parents/carers accordingly.
• Work with the leadership team to develop, implement new parenting/carer models and contribute to designing resources for parents.
• Capture the voice of parents to inform service development.
• Ensure Early Help and Safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children is undertaken in case work.
• Develop and implement service systems and reporting for new models, reviewing them as part of Clinical Governance.
• Provide education, information and training sessions as appropriate.
• Support the delivery of full risk assessments and risk management effectively.
