If you want to talk children, come and work with us! We talk about children, not cases, and keeping children at the forefront of our decision making ensures them better outcomes. As a service, First Response is one big team comprising of the Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH); 4 duty teams; the Out of Hours service, EVOLVE (exploitation) and ENGAGE (crisis support). We are currently recruiting to a temporary Social Work post in the MASH to cover maternity leave.

This is a vital role where you will support the early identification and assessment of risk, ensuring that children, young people, and vulnerable adults receive the right help at the right time.

Working within a dynamic multi‑agency environment, you will collaborate with professionals from social care, police, health, education, and other partner agencies to share information, assess risk, and make informed decisions to ensure families are on the correct trajectory at the earliest point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make timely, evidence‑based decisions to safeguard children and vulnerable individuals.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to referrers and partner organisations.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.

We are looking for someone who:
