Commercial Manager (SC CLEARED)

  • Job Type: Contract – 6 months initial
  • Location: Basingstoke / Bracknell – hybrid arrangements
  • Daily Rate: £650+ inside IR35
  • Mandatory: Active SC Clearance

We are seeking a Commercial Manager to lead and manage post-contract activities across various contracts. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, mitigating risks, and aligning with strategic objectives. The Commercial Manager will act as a liaison among legal, sales, delivery, procurement, and finance teams to minimize legal and contractual exposures while ensuring business objectives are met.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead Qualified Defence Contract (QDC) single source contract management, including negotiation and preparation of statements of work for governance approval.
  • Construct overall QDC deal structures in collaboration with internal teams and Legal & Commercial (L&C).
  • Provide QDC cross-training to other key internal commercial managers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to achieve strategic goals and manage delays to delivery with support from L&C.
  • Maintain contract documentation and ensure compliance with governance policies.
  • Create and manage templates for Statements of Work (SOWs), change orders, and other agreements.
  • Support Business As Usual (BAU) contract management activities.
  • Deliver contractually required reporting and participate in customer meetings.
  • Stay updated on IT law, data protection (e.G., GDPR), and commercial legislation.
  • Support and develop members of the Contract Management team.
  • Ensure all contractual documents are reviewed and approved by the Legal & Commercial team in accordance with DOFA requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in contract management and negotiation, particularly with QDCs.
  • Strong understanding of IT law, data protection regulations, and commercial legislation.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain contract documentation and compliance.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing contractual templates and reports.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in contract management processes and templates.
