About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Mechanical Technologist to join the Radiotherapy Physics team. The role supports departments across the Trust by producing bespoke test equipment and patient‑specific devices within a dedicated mechanical workshop.
Responsibilities
- Produce and assemble bespoke test equipment and patient‑specific devices.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet project requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, Science and English.
- Computer literate and numerate.
- Eligible for entry into the college course at Torbay or Exeter College.
Training & Development
Fully funded, accredited college course to strengthen mechanical engineering skills, plus in‑house training. Successful completion of the 3‑year apprenticeship may lead to a 1‑year consolidation/top‑up period, subject to organisational approval.
Salary & Working Pattern
Salary – Agenda for Change Band 5 Annex 21, starting at £25,377 based on 37.5 hours per week, with increases in Years 2 and 3.
Working Pattern – 37.5 hours per week.
