Role: Multi Skilled OperativeLocation: MOD Lyneham to Warminster (Travel Required Between Sites)Ideal Location: Swindon, Gloucester or surrounding areasContract: Permanent, Full TimeHours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus 1 in 8 on-call rota (including Saturday mornings, 8:00am 12:30pm)Salary: £34,000 per annum + OVertime and On Call paymentsBenefits: Company Van & Fuel CardThe OpportunityWe are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join a team delivering maintenance and repair services across Ministry of Defence domestic accommodation and facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering a high standard of workmanship.No specific trade qualification is required. We are looking for an experienced handyperson or multi-skilled operative who can confidently undertake a broad range of repairs and maintenance tasks.Based around MOD Lyneham and travelling between sites to Warminster, this role would ideally suit candidates living in the Swindon or Gloucester areas.
Due to operational requirements, applicants living south of the area are unlikely to be suitable.The RoleAs a Multi Skilled Operative, no two days will be the same. You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.Typical duties will include:General building repairs and maintenanceMinor plumbing repairs and installationsBasic plastering, tiling and decorating worksDrainage and grounds maintenance tasksCarpentry repairs and other general handyman dutiesDiagnosing faults and determining the most effective repair solutionAccurately recording work undertaken using electronic and paper-based systemsDelivering excellent customer service while working within occupied properties and live environmentsParticipating in an out-of-hours standby rota on a 1 in 8 basisAbout YouWe’re looking for someone with a practical, can-do attitude who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in their work.You will have:Previous experience in a multi-trade, handyperson or maintenance roleExperience carrying out repairs across a variety of trades rather than one specific disciplineGood fault-finding and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work independently and manage your own workloadStrong communication and customer service skillsA flexible and reliable approach to workA full UK driving licenceExperience working within social housing, facilities management, maintenance services or defence environments would be advantageous but is not essential.Security RequirementsDue to the nature of the work, all applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance .What We Offer £34,000 annual salaryCompany van and fuel cardUp to 6% contributory pension scheme25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysVolunteer leaveOne paid professional subscriptionLife assurance policyEmployee discount and reward schemesLong-term career opportunities within a stable and growing organisationIf you’re a versatile, hands-on maintenance professional looking for a varied role where your skills can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
