Qualified Primary Teaching Assistant
Full Time | Part-Time | Sheffield
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by agreement)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and committed Qualified Primary Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive school community in Sheffield.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences, promoting inclusion, and supporting pupils both academically and socially.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support high-quality teaching and learning across the primary age range.
- Work with individuals, small groups, and whole classes to enhance learning.
- Provide targeted intervention and support to pupils with a range of learning needs.
- Help create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, parents, and external professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Has recent experience working within a primary school.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is able to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive practice.
- Demonstrates patience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting children.
- Can use their initiative while also working effectively as part of a team.
- Has strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs, would be advantageous but is not essential.
