Job Overview

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen to join the Planning Enforcement Department with Birmingham City Council. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Enforcement Officer to join our team, where you will play a key role in Planning Enforcement. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing, investigating and managing enforcement complaints, managing caseloads throughout the lifecycle of a complaint while maintaining accurate case management and administrative records, using a variety of IT systems. You will also undertake site visits and attend meetings across the city in connection with cases.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Able to conduct investigations and inspections. Capable of applying principles to make informed decisions and effectively solve problems.
  • Able and willing to undertake a range of enforcement action.
  • Experience of working effectively with the public or businesses and providing excellent customer service to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including during conflict situations.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Able to work flexibly which may include some work outside normal office hours.
  • The requirement to drive is essential. You will be expected to travel within Birmingham for which you will be remunerated for the use of your car.
