Job Description:

Our client, a global technology organisation operating large-scale, customer-facing platforms, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help shape the next phase of its cloud and platform evolution. The role sits within an international DevOps function and works closely with engineering, product, and support teams to continuously improve how systems are built, deployed, and operated.

This is a senior, hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing platform strategy, and supporting the growth of other engineers. You’ll play a key part in enhancing reliability, scaling cloud infrastructure, and driving the transition from legacy deployments to modern, cloud‑native architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure
  • Lead or contribute significantly to initiatives migrating legacy or customer‑managed systems to AWS‑based platforms
  • Build, maintain, and evolve infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Review and influence system architecture with a focus on reliability, performance, and efficient resource usage
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes to enable faster, safer, and more reliable deployments
  • Strengthen operational visibility through monitoring, logging, and tracing, and actively participate in incident response
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to less experienced engineers
  • Contribute to engineering standards, design discussions, and technical documentation
  • Help align DevOps tooling and operating models across multiple teams within the wider organisation

Core Requirements

  • Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Several years’ experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
  • Strong understanding of Linux environments, networking principles, and distributed systems
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with AWS and cloud‑native services
  • Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code tools in production environments
  • Experience designing systems for scalability, fault tolerance, and multi‑environment deployment
  • Hands‑on experience running containerised workloads in production
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
  • Ability to script or program in at least one commonly used language (e.g. Python, Go, Bash)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and operations teams
