The Role
This apprenticeship role is part of our Saab Seaeye business unit in Fareham. From day one you will work alongside some of the industry’s best engineers. The role will initially focus on building skills necessary to support Saab Seaeye legacy vehicles, but with opportunities to work on cutting‑edge products such as the SR20 and eMANIP. You will be a team player, looking to grow into a well‑rounded software applications engineer. You will have a proactive approach to your work and be able to work with minimal supervision either on your own or within project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop software for the next generation of underwater vehicles
- Support and develop on the existing codebase and products
Degree learning will need to be supplemented with additional skills such as C++ programming, simulation tools and robotics knowledge. These additional skills can be learnt on the job using the Saab standard training methodologies. The typical working day will range from practical skills development, design reviews, documenting detailed design, implementing code and unit to integration level testing.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum expected educational requirement is a technical or scientific background with English & Maths GCSE at grade 4 or above, and GCSEs/A‑Level/HNC A level 3 qualification in a suitable subject area at grade C or PASS.
