About the Role
The School of Education and Social Work is seeking an established Secondary Teacher of Mathematics to take on a significant role in Secondary Initial Teacher Education at the University of Sussex and across our growing school partnership. The successful candidate will contribute to our established Postgraduate Secondary course (with QTS) and provide specialist subject knowledge and pedagogic expertise in mathematics education. The Mathematics course recruits around 30 students each year, and the secondary programme around 180. The programme is delivered in partnership with primary schools across Sussex. Contributions will include teaching core modules, supervising students during professional practice and providing academic supervision for postgraduate or masters level assignments.
About You
We are seeking someone with significant experience and expertise in secondary mathematics education, teaching across key stages 3 to 5. Ideally you will be educated to Masters level or hold an appropriate qualification, and have excellent presentation skills, the ability to communicate effectively to students, colleagues and external audiences. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent organisational skills, and prioritise to meet deadlines using strong IT skills to support production of high‑quality inclusive learning materials. Experience of mentoring secondary student teachers and engagement in scholarship in education would be desirable.

This role has an eligible SOC code and meets the requirements for Skilled Worker Sponsorship if full time and appointed at Grade 7.5. Candidates must be eligible to use tradeable points option C or E. The University requires that work undertaken for the University is performed in the UK.
