Role Overview
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is looking for a full‑time Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) who will be predominantly based at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Abergele Hospital (and the North Wales Elective Hub at Llandudno once open) for a period of six months. The duties of the post are to support the Trauma and Orthopaedic (T&O) team in the provision of elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis on lower limb arthroplasty surgery for hips and knees. The appointee will join a team that comprises seven arthroplasty surgeons who deliver a busy service for both trauma and elective hip and knee arthroplasties. The consultant will work within the T&O team at large which includes thirteen Consultants offering a range of sub‑specialty services including foot and ankle surgery, lower limb arthroplasty, soft tissue, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgery.
Responsibilities
- Perform elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery with a focus on lower limb arthroplasty for hips and knees.
- Respond to Trauma on‑call commitments (1:11 weekdays Monday to Thursday; 1:11 weekends Friday to Sunday).
- Contribute to departmental programmes for education and training.
- Contribute to the clinical governance process within the Department and the Health Board.
