HGV Driver – Night Shunter
Are you a newly qualified CE Driver, looking to take the first step in your HGV career? This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, hands‑on experience while working as part of the night team for a well‑established logistics company.
Our client is keen to support new passes in building confidence behind the wheel, developing practical skills, and establishing a long‑term career within a reputable transport operation.
Pay: £17.00 per hour
Hours: 18:00 to 06:00 / 50–55 hours per week (offering stability)
Shifts: Monday to Friday (NO Weekends)
Location: Robertsbridge (East Sussex)
Contract: Temporary / Temp to Perm
The Role: As a Class 1 (Shunter), you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of night operations. Working as a Class 1 driver within the night team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the yard. This position is ideal for a C&E Driver wanting consistent work in a supportive environment where learning and development are encouraged from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating as a CE driver, moving approximately 20 trailers per night
- Shunting units and trailers safely within the yard
- Supporting the wider night operation and working closely with the transport team
- Carrying out vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects
- Maintaining compliance with all driving regulations and site procedures
Requirements:
- Valid Class 1 (C&E) licence
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good awareness of health & safety standards
