Support Workers – Dumfries Area

Full‑time | Day Shifts | Waking Nights | Weekend Working Included

Are you a compassionate, resilient person with life experiences who can support individuals with highly complex needs in a calm, consistent and person‑centred way?

About The Role

This is a rewarding role within a service that supports people with complex and varied needs, including mental health needs, learning disabilities, addiction‑related challenges and other barriers to independent living.

Because of the nature of the support provided, the role can be emotionally and mentally demanding. We’re looking for people who can remain steady under pressure, build trust, respond with empathy and maintain professional boundaries.

Life experience, resilience and a genuine commitment to helping others are essential in this post. This opportunity would suit someone who understands that progress can take time and who is able to offer patient, consistent support that helps people feel safe, respected and empowered in their own homes.

What You’ll Do

  • Support with medication, personal care, meal preparation and maintaining a safe home environment
  • Provide practical and emotional support with daily living, routines, appointments and community access
  • Help individuals manage challenges linked to mental health, addiction and independent living in a safe and respectful way

What Makes This Role Unique

This is a chance to support people who have faced significant challenges but are determined to live meaningful, fulfilling lives. The right candidate will recognise the importance of being a calm, reliable presence and will take pride in helping people achieve the outcomes that matter to them.

The people we support enjoy a range of everyday activities including swimming, baking, walks, music and football, and value support workers who are willing to engage, encourage and share in those moments.

If you are compassionate, emotionally mature and a good listener, this could be a genuinely rewarding role. The people we support value honest relationships, meaningful conversation and support from someone who brings patience, understanding and consistency.

We welcome applications from people who can bring resilience, common sense and real‑life experience to a role that requires both heart and professionalism.

Shift Details

Our service operates 24/7, so flexibility is important. Shifts include days, waking nights and weekends, depending on the needs of the service. We are recruiting for a 40‑hour post.

At Community Integrated Care, we know it takes someone special to work in social care—and that doesn’t always mean having experience. We hire based on values, welcoming people from all walks of life: Care Assistants, Support Workers, NHS or Prison Service staff with experience in addiction, mental health or complex care support. We would also welcome applications from resilient individuals with transferrable skills from other sectors as we will provide all the training you need to be successful in your role.
